Current commission progress – Bulldog

This guy has been waiting to be finished while I’ve been working on some other projects. He is almost finished though, this is where he is now. Just waiting on some shadowing work next. Time to get busy.

Painting A Fluffy Cow

Right now I’m up to day three on Facebook of the fluffy cow painting.

I have to admit I almost chickened out on posting my first days work.

That first day is always my hardest, and always the place that I seem to be most disappointed. The place I tend to be the most impatient. Sometimes I will help speed up the drying process with a hair dryer just so I can continue to layer on paint and get to a place where I can at least feel good about coming back to the project.

One of my Artist friends has a great attitude about the process. She always tells me “It’s just paper, if you don’t like it start over”.

So if you are painting, keep going in the process!  If you aren’t happy along the way, remember, it’s just paper.  That thought can give you the freedom to keep going and you might just  like your results in the end after all.  Happy painting!

Painting Process

Ive learned a lot by others sharing how they paint and what they’ve learned during the process and decided to chronicle one of my pieces that I’m doing for fun.

Then I thought that might be kinda of scary because I always think the beginning of my paintings are the worst.

I think I have this tiny bit of OCD in me that sees one thing in my head and can’t wait for the whole process. Watercolors are not easily controlled,
they really like to do their own thing. Okay, that’s another issue I have.

Sometimes I wonder why I am working with this medium???

Ah, to learn patience, forgiveness and grace.

Right now you can catch some photos on my Facebook page of the beginning of my current project.

Disgruntled

I started this project a few months ago and I just wasn’t happy with how it was turning out.

I think I must have scrubbed off two different backgrounds and still couldn’t quite get satisfied.

Nothing seemed to go right.

I was disgruntled.

Then I realized that my subject matter looked pretty much the same way to me.

So today I picked up the brushes and played around a bit and this is what I’ve come up with. I’m ready to move on to something else!

Anyone else get that way sometime?
